RULES & REGULATIONS

TOURNAMENT CHECK-IN:

Before the tournament commences, coaches are required to print and fill out a Team Roster sheet, which must be submitted during check-in at The Hub, the designated tournament headquarters on the first day of the event. Upon submission, coaches will be provided with a set of tournament wristbands for their team. Throughout the tournament, these wristbands must be worn by all coaches and players to ensure active participation. Referees will not allow any players/coaches to participate in a match without wearing a tournament wristband. In case of a wristband tearing or damage, kindly bring the damaged wristband to The Hub for a replacement with a new one.

All tournament info will be posted via the tournament website (bit.ly/slwinterclassic) or communicated via email from Nick Lopiccolo (nlopiccolo@cnusd.k12.ca.us) or Matt Trevino (matthew.trevino@cnusd.k12.ca.us).

FORFEITS/DISQUALIFICATIONS:

If a team forfeits the match (i.e. no-show, not having enough players, no coach, etc.) and/or is disqualified (for any reason), the match will be recorded as a 3-0 win for the opposing team. Any team that forfeits or is disqualified will be reported to their school’s Athletic Director and may be disbarred from future tournaments.

CODE OF CONDUCT:

Players/Coaches - Any player receiving two (2) yellow cards (indirect red card) or coach receiving an ejection shall be ineligible to participate in the remainder of the match and will miss the next consecutive match (forfeits do not count). If a player or coach receives a direct red card or is ejected for assault, that individual will be ineligible to participate in the remainder of the tournament and will be reported to their school’s Athletic Director.

Teams/Spectators - Coaches will have full responsibility for their players and spectators at all times. If at any point throughout the match, the referee feels the contest has become unsafe for any of the parties involved due to misconduct by coaches, players, spectators, etc., the referee may choose to unexpectedly terminate the match. The offending team will be reported to their school’s Athletic Director and may be disbarred from future tournaments. To determine the winner, visit the section “Unexpected Termination of Play.”

UNEXPECTED TERMINATION OF PLAY:

Unexpected termination of play may occur due to misconduct that is deemed unsafe for the parties involved in a contest (i.e. coaches, players, spectators, referees, etc.) and/or inclement weather in which the Tournament Committee deems the playing conditions are unsafe/unfit for competition.

If a match is unexpectedly terminated, the following system for determining the winner will be implemented:

  • Matches that have not reached 30-minutes of play will be deemed as unplayed.

  • Matches that have completed 30-minutes of play or more will have the current score stand as the final result.

**If a match was unexpectedly terminated due to inclement weather and the match was deemed as unplayed, the Tournament Committee may replay the match if the match could be rescheduled within the same day and within the tournament hours of operations. If the match cannot be rescheduled, the match will be scored as a 0-0 draw.

**If a match was unexpectedly terminated due to misconduct and the match is deemed unplayed, then the match will be scored as a 0-0 draw and the Tournament Committee will not reschedule the match.

**In the event of unexpected circumstances match locations and/or match times may be altered.

DISCLAIMERS:

Participating teams are guaranteed a minimum of three (3) matches. However, if a team/school forfeits, id disqualified, there is an unexpected termination of play, or unforeseen circumstances lead to a disruption that prevents another team/school from completing their minimum three (3) matches, neither the Winter Classic Tournament nor Eleanor Roosevelt High School are responsible as these are unforeseeable and uncontrollable events. Consequently, no refunds, discounts, or compensation will be provided to the affected teams.

In the rare event of an unprecedented situation emerging during the tournament, not previously accounted for, the tournament committee retains the authority to carefully consider and propose a suitable resolution. The committee's decision will be considered final.
